Uncle Dave

This a brag blog!
Rylee has the BEST uncle ever!!
My brother aka Uncle Dave.
We used to always just call him Dave.
But now he is pretty much always referred to as Uncle Dave.

Growing up poor Uncle Dave was stuck as the middle child between 2 girls. That is tough stuff...or so I hear =). I don't remember it being too bad but Dave has said it was pretty rough with me and my sister. But after we became adults and all moved out of the house I think our brother/sister relationship added the friend aspect to it.

I remember when we got pregnant with Rylee and I was wondering how my family would be with this new addition. Rylee is the first grandchild for our family?? My parents have this cute little chihuahua that they have babied BIG time. And I remember telling my dad that I was afraid that my parents would care for the dog more than the baby. I am sure a lot of that was just my pregnancy emotions talking. Looking back I now realize how crazy that was. And my dad reassured me that would NEVER happen! I just had not ever seen my parents or my siblings with a baby, so I was not sure how they would take it all in.

So anywhoo back to Uncle Dave... After I had given birth to Rylee the next day we had lots of friends and family stop by the hospital. Dave was planning on being there early I think but somehow we had some friends what had beat him to the hospital. And he was on the phone with my mom and said to her "They can't see my niece before I do!!" And he rushed in as quick as he could. From the moment he laid eyes on her I would say he has been pretty smitten with her. I have not EVER seen Dave smitten before. But I can honestly say that he loves her more than I ever imagined possible!!
It is so beautiful to me!!

After she was born Uncle Dave had heard that drowning was the #1 death for children. So as soon as he heard that he called me and said Rylee NEEDS swim lessons. She needs to know how to swim! He told me to go find a place that teaches babies to swim and he payed for all of it. And as a single income family that is a HUGE blessing. I was so excited to go and look for mommy/daughter swim places.

Every year for her birthday and Christmas he gives us money to add to her college fund that he had set up for her when she was born. He truly wants the best for her and her future!!

Another fun/funny thing is that he absolutely does NOT like to be tickled. But every time he sees Rylee he lets her tickle him because she loves it. It is just little things like that, that I totally appreciate. He is such an amazing uncle for Rylee and everyday I thank Jesus that he is my brother and friend!

I hope that today you have something special that you are thankful for! God gives us so many blessings around us. Some BIG and some small. But all still special!!

XOXO,
Amy
